Local Action Group – Elhovo operates in the municipality of Elhovo, region Yambol, Republic of Bulgaria. The territory of LAG – Elhovo fully coincides with the administrative boundaries of the municipality of Elhovo and covers all 22 settlements in the municipality.<\/p>\n

LAG-Elhovo covers about 702 square kilometers of land (271 square miles)\u00a0and is located in the southeastern part of the peripheral of the Republic of Bulgaria, located in the southern part of the Yambol region includes lands from the middle reaches of the Tundzha river. The south border of the territory coincides with the border of the Republic of Bulgaria with Turkey.<\/p>\n

The total population in the territory of LAG Elhovo to date 1st of February 2011 is presented in Table 1:<\/p>\n

The population density of the territory of LAG – Elhovo amounts to 23 people per square kilometer. This is 70% \u00a0higher than the population density of Yambol region (39 peoples\/ sq. km), and about 125% times less than that of the South-West region (56 peoples \/sq.m) and nearly three times less than the national average (71 people \/sq.km).<\/p>\n
